Miller Nicholson Architecture is a full-service, award-winning architecture firm known for creating designs that meet aesthetic and lifestyle preferences for each client. Every home has its own unique style, crafted specifically, and with great detail, from the interaction and collaboration with clients.
For over 40 years, Miller Nicholson has used a practical and humanistic approach that has earned the admiration and loyalty of numerous clients, many of whom return for additional projects. Projects reflect a philosophy that design is not just modern or classic, but rather a sum of details that when put together result in a uniquely crafted original design. No two houses are the same.

MILLER NICHOLSON, AIA, LEED AP

Principal

Miller is a native of Charlotte who, from a young age, displayed a passion for drawing and interest in design. He earned his architecture degree with honors from the North Carolina State University School of Design. Early career highlights include seven years in commercial architecture, where he won an AIA Design award and was lead designer on the OmniMax Theater at Charlotte’s Discovery Place science museum. Other commercial work included adaptive reuse and revival of mills and factory buildings bringing them new life for present day use. After that Miller’s focus turned to residential design where he has spent the past 30 years creating award-winning homes of exceptional beauty and lasting craftsmanship. When out of the office, Miller can be found fly fishing in a trout stream or boating with his wife on Lake James, NC.

Jocelyn Honorate

Designer

Jocelyn grew up in Matanzas, Cuba and graduated from University of Havana in 2002. In addition to being a talented designer and master detailer, Jocelyn is a licensed general contractor. She oversees construction document production in the office. Her extensive travels and personal building experience have exposed her to a large variety of building forms and details. When not at the office, Jocelyn is a world traveler and enjoys the culinary arts.

Frances M. Aguilar

Draftsperson

Frances grew up in Maracaibo, Venezuela and graduated from the University of Zulia in 2000. Before coming to Miller Nicholson Architecture in 2022, Frances had her own architectural practice for 10 years in Venezuela designing homes and commercial upfits. She brings a unique perspective to the building environment in North America which adds a creative layer to our design process. In addition to designing, she produces construction documents for our projects. When not at our office, Frances has a love for Latin cooking and shares her creations in the office to try out on the staff.
